Dr. Joseph Luciani (Dr. Joe) has been a practicing clinical psychologist for more than forty years. He’s the internationally bestselling author of the Self-Coaching series of books, published in ten languages. His books are available as audio books (each read by Dr. Luciani) and e-books. His articles have been featured in numerous national magazines and newspapers, including Redbook, Cosmopolitan, O, The Oprah Magazine, USA Today, Fitness, Health, Shape, and Body and Soul. Why I do what I do

Years of struggle with anxiety and self-doubt led Dr. Joe to a career in psychology with the hope of finding relief. And that relief came with his discovery that anxiety and depression, if treated as habits of insecurity rather than as mental illnesses, can be dealt with simply and directly without endlessly having to dissect the “whys” of the past.


My philosophy is simple if you want to bring joy back into your life

If, for example, you’re trying to quit smoking, you don’t have to know why you took that first cigarette—you only have to chip away at the here-and-now habit. Like smoking, all habits—even anxiety and depression—are learned, and all habits can be “un-learned.” If you want to bring joy back into your life, then you need to know what you’re doing that feeds your problems and what you can do to starve them. Self-Coaching is the answer—it’s that simple.
