What I learned at the cemetery

I saw a tombstone the other day inscribed with the years, 1920 – 1999. It occurred to me that neither the birth date (1920) nor the death date (1999) mattered much. What mattered was the dash inscribed between these dates. You see, it’s the dash that represents the life that was once lived. When you were born or when you die aren’t nearly as important as what you’re doing with your dash-years!
